Description |
NMO is an inflammatory disease of the nervous system, which usually affects only the optic (eyes) nerve and the spinal cord. It can cause a decrease in vision and varying degrees of weakness or paralysis in the legs and arms. |

The NMO group at the Walton Centre Neurology and Neurosurgery consists of a unique dedicated NMO multidisciplinary team providing a specialist service for patients with confirmed or possible NMO. The Walton Centre is funded by the National Commissioning Group and Department of Health as a national referral centre for NMO as a diagnostic and advisory service.
