Diagnosed with a neurological condition?

Employing people with a neurological condition.

The Working Life Service is part funded by the European Social Fund and is part of the Working Better project.

The Working Life Service offers information, advice, guidance and support to people who are affected by a neurological condition (including families and carers) and helps them explore their options for the future. Our guidance workers can offer the following:

  • Help to stay in employment or to find alternative work

  • Guidance on alternative careers

  • Advice and guidance about training

  • Guidance on alternatives to work

  • Access to the Neurolife programme of courses

  • Confidence building

  • Help to sort out problems with daily living

  • Access to benefits and financial advice

  • Access to legal advice

Everyone has different problems and issues, and this is not an exhaustive list. We aim to adapt to whatever you need and to find imaginative solutions to your needs.

Some people find it difficult to come to terms with the diagnosis of a neurological condition and often do not know where to turn for help. The Working Life Service can be a first point of call to help you move forward with your life.

Employers

The Working Life Service will work with employers to help them:

  • Keep someone employed who has or develops a neurological condition

  • Advise on the employment of some one with a neurological condition

  • Advise on responsibilities under the Disability Discrimination Act

  • Identify "reasonable accommodations" as defined by the Disability Discrimination Act

  • Access any grants (eg Access to Work, Workstep etc) that may be available to help employ someone with a neurological condition
